FREDERICK DOUGLASS

Frederick Douglass was born into slavery, was taught to read by the wife of the family in Baltimore that he moved into. Needless-to-say that the owner was not pleased with his wife’s teaching Douglass to read, although she stopped her instructions, he continued to read by enlisting the help of the white children, and became a human rights activist, as well as the first African American to hold a high ranking U.S. government position. He was born into slavery.
